February 5-10 Hell Yeah!
As a coach, there are a few things that you want in your idea athlete. You'd probably want them to have some level of athleticism, someone who is coachable, knows there limits. But something that I've always really respected is someone who never says they can't. Someone who never complains and just grinds from when they clock starts until it hits zero.
That is exactly how I would describe Amanda, and we are happy to recognize her with a huge HELL YEA! Amanda has been with us from the beginning and I have never once heard her complain or say I can't! I think we've all had moments when the weight is just too heavy, the time is just too short, and it's easy to just relax and wait for the workout to end, or ease up on the gas a bit. But I recall Amanda earlier this week in the middle of a workout. It required overhead squats, which as we all know are no walk in the park. But group that with pull ups and dumbbell push presses after a 400 M run, and you have one hell of a number done on your shoulders!
It was towards the end of the workout, and Amanda had the bar above her head and went down for an OH Squat, but it fell forward. Amanda looked at me, took a deep breath and just said, "I got it..." put that bar right back up overhead and hit those OH squats FOR REPS. It may not have seemed like much to her at the time, but it was bad ass from a coaches perspective!
Amanda, thank you for always coming in and giving it your all. It is always a pleasure coaching or working out along side you!
If you see Amanda this week give her a HELL YEA!
