June Committed Club!

And just like that, we’ve come to the end of another strength cycle. For so many of us, we saw strides in our strength, capacity, and technique over the past nine weeks, and had a chance to celebrate that by re-testing our lifts. Completing a strength cycle is a great accomplishment, regardless of the outcome. For me, I grabbed three new PR’s - and while most people could fixate on the number itself, I would rather think about how this strength cycle helped me to rearrange the way I approach my own strengths and weaknesses in a workout.

This past month, I rearranged my attitude and mindset towards strength. It’s no secret that I am more of a bodyweight athlete, and admittedly, I get intimidated while lifting around others. Frustrated, even. And then, I pause…I have to remember that the only output that matters in the room is mine. MINE. So, I approached each week in this strength cycle as an opportunity to reflect on the following:

  • What can I strengthen in my technique today?

  • How can I self-talk in a way that will affirm my capabilities?

  • Who can I ask for support when I am feeling stuck?

  • In what ways can I celebrate these wins to help set new goals?

These are the questions I brought with me into the gym across not only our strength sessions, but our Open workouts as well. While I don’t enjoy some of the feelings associated with those workouts, I do love the chance to “beat the old Kady”. It’s such a beautiful way to see just how far I’ve come. But in this past month, the consistency that I have created for myself has also been affirmed. Showing up matters. But let me be clear - so do rest days, hydration, sleep, and making space to enjoy life. I paid attention to all of those things, and it paid off. More isn’t better, my friends. Consistency in the things you do matters more. Let me repeat that - More is not better.

So, as we walk into a new month, I celebrate you! I celebrate you for showing up, for grabbing PR’s, or for missing goals and using that to walk forward towards an even bigger one. Keep working hard, family, and let’s get after the month of July!

There is something special about our community, my friends. Continue to uplift each other, because it matters. We have the power to bring out the best in ourselves each time we walk through the doors. So - let’s do just that. As always, I’ll see you at the gym!

Big Hugs,

Coach Kady
