August Programming Focus
In July we got to ride the wave loading strength cycle that ended in hopefully the heaviest 2-Rep efforts we have seen in recent months! We were very excited to bring the style of strength to everyone because not only was it a great way to teach our bodies about power output, but it was also a calculated way to reintroduce everyone back to some higher rep and volume strength sessions. Even if athletes didn’t hit a “2RM” they still gained strength back and now they are prepared for more volume to come down the line! We saw some fun, very challenging NCFIT creations like “Cowabunga”! We also got more touches on movements like the Hang Power Snatch and the Burpee Toes to Bar to add some new learning to the program. The Hang Power Snatch will continue to show up as a movement we will get more exposure with.
In August, the strength is going to be focused around the Power Clean. We are going to be practicing some form or complex of the Power Clean twice a week! There will be one day dedicated towards skill work and a “heavy” day where everyone can put those skills to practice! We will be transitioning back to building Back Squat to give the front rack a rest since we will be hitting that position with the Power Clean twice a week. We will also be leveling up the Push Press to the Push Jerk! This is the first time we’ve seen this movement in our strength cycle so we are pumped to get athletes dedicated time with this movement. In our strength sessions, we will be working with different lengths of EMOMS to maximize our time (as opposed to keeping it more open ended) and give us the opportunity to throw some long grind style workouts into the mix! This month is going to be a good mix of raw strength and skill and no doubt it’s going to be a blast from start to finish.
