Welcome to our new Coaching Interns

It is with a lot of excitement that we introduce our first “class” of Coaching Interns here at Petram! Please give Arty, Lenny & Kraig a fist bump next time you see them at the gym, we are excited to bring them on board and have them learn from our rockstar coaches over the next few months.

You will see them shadowing and learning during class as early as this week! I asked each for a quick write-up and a photo so that I could share this post with the Petram community!

Arty

“Hey Fam!!! I am Arty, I am a Biochemist who absolutely loves CrossFit. I joined this fitness discipline 3 years ago. I was introduced to the world of CrossFit by one of my best friends, who is an amazing coach now.
What I love most about CrossFit is the community! You guys are amazing! To me, coming every morning to workout and see all of you is the best therapy I could have ever ask for. CrossFit has literally saved my life. It keeps me grounded and motivated. There is always something to practice and to get better at. I love the feeling of being challenged, but I love even more when I overcome those challenges and embrace to new ones!
The reason I would love to start training to be a coach is because I believe in the strength of our community. Helping you become a better athlete, accomplishing your goals, and witnessing you “killing it” on the Crossfit floor will also motivate me to be a better athlete, and hopefully, a better coach. I am very excited for this opportunity and I can’t wait for us to learn from each other!!!

Kraig

“I started CrossFit after months of encouragement from some close friend’s the Coursey’s and my wife Lindsey. We had just had my daughter and I was at the heaviest I had ever been. Having a family history of heart attacks at a younger age I decided I needed to make a change. I wanted to live a healthy lifestyle so I could be around for my wife and 2 children. I fell in love after the first class even though I got my butt kicked. Every class is a new challenge and the whole community is always so encouraging that I have stayed commuted and I am coming up on year 4 at Petram. The drive to coach comes from wanting to help other members reach goals and movements that they have set for themselves. I have been given so many tips from the coaches to get to places I would of never imagined that first day. I want to be apart of helping other members do that very same thing.”

Lenny

“Hi everybody! Short and sweet this is my background and who I am. A Graduate of the United States Naval Academy with 6 years active duty and three years reserve in the United States Marine Corps. 20 years with the Delaware State Police, 18 of those years were as a K9 handler and then a K9 trainer. I am now working at Wilmington University in the Safety Department. Exercise has always been a part of my life! I started with age group swimming at the Wilmington Aquatic Club, years ago. I swam in high school and college. I competed in the United States Triathlon Series going to age group Nationals a couple of times, years ago. And I have run few marathons. I now exercise more for the lifelong benefits, both physical & mental, it has to offer me.

CrossFit, especially the CrossFit Petram Family have helped me immensely in my transition from my career job to “What am I going to do next?” It is a great combination of fitness and community, which is good for my soul. So, becoming a coach just seemed to be part of that transition. I am looking forward to sharing my fitness goals and working with everyone else attain theirs. One Rep at a Time. Patience Perseverance Consistency Repetition.”
